Ragged Blossom

A new design from the House of Miss Orchid. A tiny frock reminiscent of those delicate blossoms tumbled about by wind and rain, pitiful compared to the fresh new blooms, but still beautiful to eyes that can appreciate.

Layers of hand-dyed petals are crowned with a delicate backless bodice. A heavily beaded bust and waistline, with deliberate raw edges and purpose fraying.  The back features silk ribbon straps that cross over once and tie in a neat little bow at the base of your dolls back.

"Ragged Blossom" will fit porcelain "Ophelia" variations by BJTales, as well as resin sculpts: Sindy, Aerica, Phantom. Other slim BJD's around 27cm in height such as Aleah by Nefer Kane will also be perfect candidates for this sweet little frock.

Back to designing and creaating!

After a long hiatus (much too long!) I'm back to work at Orchids Designs! I've got some new designs inspired by wilted flowers, as well as floaty pieces inspired by daydreams and the sky. Trusty and sweet, Ottilia (Ophelia by BJTales) is here to demonstrate the pieces to fit BJTales Sindy, Aerica and Phantom. In the near future I will be adding a new "model" to the muse collection - Pearl by BJTales. Can't wait to meet her, and start on the numerous designs I already have sketched out (how exciting!)

We're going to have some amazing photographs to share of the new designs, as I invested in a handsome gentleman with amazing photography skills to document these creations (he comes with great cooking skills too, added bonus!)

Here are some tasty samples of the newest dress, soon to be fully unveiled, enjoy!

Ivory Bloom

Heady summer nights buzzing with the spicy fragrance of exotic flowers blooming beneath a swelling moon, this tiny organza frock brings to life the faery kingdom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Shakespeare.

Organza petals form the skirt, reminiscent of the lush roses I was inspired by. Cream and ivory coloured lace, beads and trim adorn the bodice and waistline.

A corset-style lace-up back makes this little frock slightly adjustable in size, perfect for dolls with a 7.5cm – 11.5cm bust.

Ivory Muse

Traveling has been a great source of inspiration for me.  Scouring vintage markets, browsing charming boutiques, and wondering at the fantastic creations in elite fashion salons is always inspirational – however, nature has always been my greatest source of wonder.

On a recent trip to Austria, I spent a week in the neat little bathing town of Baden, where I spent a lot of time in the beautifully manicured Rosarium Gardens. The weather was cool and pleasant; often a light sprinkle of rain would dust the rows of roses with delicate droplets of water. I would take my art materials to draw and paint, or simply spend endless hours reading all the different species of rose planted there.

Whilst relaxing amongst the beautiful blooms, I was struck with the idea for a new collection inspired by a particular ivory coloured rose, called “The Lordly Oberon”. Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” has always been my favourite play, and this collection will strive to bring to life the magic and frivolity of the tiny regal realm they rule.

Here my own tiny, ivory muse is visible beneath layers  of ivory coloured organza, ready to be turned into something ethereal.

Progress on the first “rose bloom” frock.

Lace Sonnet

This elegant gown was created with the idea of a regal fae queen in mind - a vision of mist and whispers, barely visible amongst the dense forest fog.

Crushed Cotton and Lace gown. Halterneck bodice with lace skirt-train at back.

Waist and bust size is adjustable to fit similar dolls by BJTales (Porcelain sculpts and Resin Sindy, Aerica, Phantom, etc) and Aleah by Nefer Kane.

Parisian Melody

After my recent travels, I was inspired to design this little frock - an embodiment of the sweet femininity and rustic charm I came across so often in the darling boutiques in the hidden alleyways of Paris.

Pebble coloured French Linen matched with soft brown lace trim and ribbons, entirely hand-sewn.

Designed to fit the porcelain “Ophelia” style of body-sculpt, resin Sindy and Aerica articulated dolls by BJTales. Will potentially also fit Aleah by Nefer Kane.

Aleah in Peach

The first glimpse we've seen of one of Nefer Kane's Aleah dolls modelling a Miss Orchid ensemble (originally made to fit BJTales Sindy.)

Thank You to her wonderful owner Rere for the gorgeous photoshoot.

We also now have a Orchids Designs group pool on flickr, to host all the gorgeous photographs taken by doll owners of their darling girls showing off in their frocks!

Mousy Outfits

We recently created some incredibly tiny little outfits for the new resin line of BJTales "Mouse". The mice have begun to make their way to their new homes, and it's lovely to see our outfits welcoming them!

We were also just told that our outfits made to fit the resin Sindy, Aerica and porcelain Ophelia sculpts also perfectly fit the new resin line of Aleah BJD by Nefer Kane. We still have a few available "Sindy-sized" outfits available for immediate purchase!
