Fairies and Folklore Exhibition

The second International Blythe customiser exhibition is on soon at Auguste Clown Gallery, and Orchid's Designs is delighted to be submitting a OOAK Blythe once again!

My doll has been finished, and this was her story...

Kitsune

According to Japanese folklore, Kitsune are foxes that have the ability to turn into beautiful young women, possessing magical abilities that increase with age and wisdom. They are often mischievous, tricking men and attempting to seduce them - sometimes for mere mischief, sometimes to consume their bodies and spirits.

Interested persons may email the gallery to join the show preview at info@augusteclown.com  The preview will go out a few days before the exhibition opens.
Opening Night will be on Friday 7th August, 6pm – 8pm at Auguste Clown Gallery, 52 Johnston Street Fitzroy in Melbourne, Australia. Free entry, champagne provided. The exhibition is on view from 7th August – 23rd August.

Garden of Delights - Custom Blythe

Garden of Delights
First Prize Winner - BlytheFest 2014 Australia

Garden of Delights - my very special custom Blythe who made her extravagant debut at Blythefest AU in Sydney, winning first prize in her category. She is an exquisite art-custom, her body and head fully covered in intricate hand painted floral vine motifs. She wears a large floral crown atop her spring green hair. She has been given "sleep eyes" and gaze adjustment, and has two of my crystal-resin glazed illustrated cameo pull-rings.

Front and Back face-plates feature a bouquet of beautifully painted garden flowers, roses, leaves and hydrangea blooms. Her entire body is encircled with vines and blooming roses, wrapping around her arms, torso and legs.
Her eyelids also feature floral continuation of her facial design, so that when she closes her eyes she can merge into her floral background... a wallflower, a perfectly camouflaged nature spirit. Eye-chips include 4 custom sets: one pair Takara pink, one pair Takara forest green, one pair hand-painted metallic silvery green, and one pair human-iris prints.

She has been meticulously sealed between each layer to protect her extensive painted designs. None the less, I would recommend she is handled minimally, and displayed in a clean dust-free environment, preferably enclosed within a glass dome or show cabinet to ensure her everlasting beauty.

Enchanted Forest

Remember our special commissioned "Kingfisher" costume ensemble created for Blythecon Barcelona in collaboration with Liquiriziadolly? For the sake of this photoshoot at the time I adjusted the size to fit the exquisite Resin line of Enchanted Dolls, but never did share the fantastical results.

Not wasting another second, please delight in this glimmering moment captured amongst the willows!

Thanks to Doll Photography for documenting this little wander amongst the willows.

Collaboration - The Enchanted Forest

The Enchanted Forest

I have had the pleasure of being part of a fantastic collaboration to create an extravagant OOAK costume for a special custom Blythe by Liquiriziadolly for the "Enchanted Forest" theme of this years Blythecon Barcelona. I created a glittering couture frock with velvet leafed bodice, feathers and skeleton leaves dancing around her organza skirt. A stiff organza tutu of layered forest green organza helps to puff out the fantastic shaped skirt. Long gossamer sleeves dotted with beads and shimmering sequins shine in the sunlight like dewdrops on a hummingbird's wings. A glimmering band of satin and leaves crowns her forehead.

More photo's of this costume can be seen on my facebook and flickr
Visitors to the 2014 Blythecon Barcelona can be enchanted in person at Liquiriziadolly's stand.

Ghostly Ballerina Fairy

The ghostly Fairy Ballerina takes her place on the dusty stage each night, though the theatre has stood crumbling and abandoned for years. She twirls and leaps, skips and hops, pirouetting to the empty audience, spiders and rodents appreciating her lonely dance with tiny beady black eyes and inquisitive twitching whiskers. No grand orchestra accompanies her solitary dance, yet the music plays loud in her ears, echoing like the beating of a heart... she takes her bow at the end, to a silent applause alive and grand in her delicate memory.

Gossamer organza dress in pearlescent oyster shades. Puffs of tulle and silk, shredded lace and threads dotted with tiny glass beads whispering along the hem and neckline. Two miniature eyelets close with a pink cord at the back-waist, leaving a dropped open back to this elegant theatre frock.

To fit the beautiful BJTales dolls by Lidia Snull including: Alyona, Aericia, Phantom.

Gostly Fairy frock for LightpaintedDolls

This fantastical frock is for a doll not of this world.... the perfect match for the tiny ethereal beings created by UK based doll-artist Ilona of LightpaintedDolls. A gauzy gossamer dress with puffs of tulle. Shreds of lace, silk, threads, and beading give an otherworldly aura to this gorgeous gown, inspired by theatrical ballerina dresses representing fairies and ghosts.

We have opened a custom pre-order for our "Tattered Ghost-Fairy" frock to fit the ethereal LightpaintedDolls. Pre-orders and more detailed order informations on the Limited Edition frock is now available in my Shop. Following my design silhouette for the dresses but each will be completely unique due to the nature of the hand-selected trims, laces and fabrics.

Quartz Ballerina Dress for BJTales Pearl

A tiny little ballerina twirls and spins beneath the gleaming glow of the moon, her only stage-slights. She jumps and glides to an audience of crickets and moths, her cheering crowd, and bows modestly at the end of her performance, the long limbs of an old willow draw close as her lush green stage curtains. The night air hums and buzzes afterwards, a no finer performance has ever been viewed in any gleaming marble opera.

Vintage lace in the softest peach hue forms the tight-fitting bodice, accented with strands of ivory beads. Icy ruffles of the softest tulle for her tiny tutu, with a shabby-chic bow of lace and cream feathers at her dropped waist. The Crystal Ballerina dress is for the tiny being who dreams of the Opera, but performs on a simple, yet beautiful stage.

The Crstal Ballerina dress will fit the tiny BJTales Pearl and Asrai sculpts, and look darling on any of the colour variations. A snap closure and ivory bow at the back secures a tight fit for her bodice.

There is a version to fit the smaller BJTales Mouse as well ~here~

Raspberry Songbird

Hidden by the raspberry bush leaves, a songbird lets her joyous song raise to greet spring and summer.

She'll lose her voice if you keep her in a cage, so listen to her golden trilling on sunny days out in the wild.

"Raspberry Songbird" is a fitted corset-frock created for the exquisite Enchanted Dolls. The hand-painted structured skirt is accentuated with layers of frothy pink trims, ribbons and lace - sourced from my travels round the world. A tight lace-up back adds the ability for this corset to fit both the Resin and more elite Porcelain Enchanted Doll sculpts.

This is the second colour variant in my "Songbird" corsets made for the lovely Enchanted Dolls. The trims were just enough for this one-off piece, so it is truly one-off, not to be repeated.
